A report near the loading yard
An office campus, warehouse or business park has its own layout and working hours. A local receiver can support a practical site-awareness routine without asking every member of staff to interpret an overhead sighting for themselves.
The facilities desk receives a report during a delivery period. The nominated reviewer opens the map, checks the track time and compares the trail with the loading yard, office buildings and adjacent roads.
The reviewer records the relevant time and public track reference in the company’s own process. Available playback supports a later discussion, while a separately approved API integration can be considered if there is a recurring need to bring data into existing software.
Questions worth answering
- What did the received track show around the site?
- Can the next shift review the same observation?
- Would an approved integration improve an existing workflow?

A public track reference lets colleagues reopen the recorded activity under discussion.

Request individually approved live or history data scopes, with API keys and usage limits suited to the agreed integration.

Use an area around the actual workplace, such as the main office and loading yard. Give it a name your team recognises, and choose the extent around the question you want reviewers to answer.
Where enabled for your account, notifications can bring received activity to the facilities or duty reviewer. Agree working hours, handover and channel checks before relying on the routine.
- Choose the place. Use the map’s area-alert entry to select your centre and radius, then name the saved area in your account.
- Choose the activity. Review the rules available to your account and enable the ones relevant to this place.
- Choose the channel. Configure an available email, browser push or webhook channel, check quiet hours and send a test.
- Open the observation. Use the event timeline’s Live or Playback link as available to inspect what triggered your attention.
Area alerts · limited rollout. Account and channel availability apply. Email, opt-in browser push and signed webhooks have separate delivery states; notification timing depends on the rule, quiet hours and delivery channel. Check your account’s options and send a test before building a routine around notifications.

An area selects relevant received activity. It does not change the receiver’s listening range or create a flight restriction.
Give the receiver a useful home.
- Write down the site’s information need and choose the team that will review received observations.
- Work with IT and facilities on a fixed receiver installation, including power, networking, antenna placement and equipment ownership.
- Start with the map and a simple handover process. Scope any integration separately once the required data and workflow are clear.
Questions for this setting.
Does every colleague need an API key?
No. API access is for an approved software integration. Browsing the map and reviewing links are separate activities; account requirements depend on the features used.
Can we reuse existing receiver equipment?
Use the hardware and existing-feed guides to check compatibility. Tell Layer400 what hardware, radios and decoder software you already have when discussing a deployment.
