1. About these terms

“Layer400”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Layer400 service. Formal supplier details that apply to a paid plan will be shown before purchase and in the order confirmation. These terms form an agreement between us and the person using the service.

If you use Layer400 for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for it. If you are not legally able to enter into this agreement, a responsible adult or authorised representative must manage the account.

2. What Layer400 provides

Layer400 receives reports from independently operated stations and uses them to present Remote ID observations, receiver status, network coverage and related analysis. Features, coverage and refresh rates vary by location, receiver availability, broadcast method, account level and system health.

Our current product policy is to keep a free live-map experience available. The free service is intended to include recent observations and, where technically available, up to the preceding 24 hours of history. This policy is not a contractual promise that every field, geography, history period or display feature will remain unchanged.

3. What the data can and cannot establish

Remote ID is a radio broadcast, not an authenticated radar return. Reports may be absent, duplicated, delayed, corrupted, misconfigured or deliberately falsified. A model name may be inferred. Heights can use different references. Receiver clocks and locations can be wrong. Network processing reduces some errors but cannot remove all of them.

A track on Layer400 is evidence that one or more participating receivers reported a compatible signal. It is not, by itself, proof of the aircraft’s operator, legality, intent, exact position or identity. No track does not mean no aircraft. Read the data notice before interpreting a report.

4. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials and recovery methods secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not share a personal account or use another person’s credentials. We may require email verification, multi-factor authentication or additional checks for sensitive features.

You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless it results from a failure that is ours. We may restrict or suspend access while investigating compromise, abuse, legal risk or a threat to the network.

5. Responsible use

You must comply with the Acceptable use policy. In particular, do not use Layer400 to stalk, harass, trespass, interfere with an aircraft, identify a person unlawfully, evade aviation rules, overwhelm the service, bypass access controls or extract data at scale without written permission.

You remain responsible for deciding whether your intended use is lawful and proportionate. Access to data does not grant authority to investigate, detain, intercept, publish personal information or take enforcement action.

6. Plans, payment and cancellation

Some features may require a paid plan. The plan page and checkout will state the price, billing period, included features and any minimum term. We will not charge you without an affirmative purchase. Consumer cancellation and refund rights provided by law are not limited by these terms.

We may change a paid plan prospectively. Where a material change affects an active subscription, we will give reasonable notice and explain the options available. Usage limits, fair-use controls and technical safeguards may apply.

7. Intellectual property and permitted access

Layer400’s software, presentation, branding, documentation and compiled database are protected by intellectual-property and database rights. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the service for its intended purpose while you comply with these terms.

You may share a normal link or a screenshot with sensible attribution, provided it is not misleading and does not expose restricted information. You may not resell, mirror, systematically copy or create a substitute service from Layer400 data without a separate written licence. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including permitted security research and interoperability rights, remain unaffected.

8. Availability, changes and suspension

We design Layer400 for dependable operation, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete coverage or permanent retention of any observation. Maintenance, receiver outages, upstream failures, security incidents and legal requirements can affect the service. We may change or withdraw features where reasonably necessary.

We may remove content, limit queries, revoke credentials or suspend an account to protect people, data or infrastructure; comply with law; enforce these terms; or investigate misuse. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a route to challenge the decision.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, Layer400 is not responsible for decisions made from incomplete or inaccurate observational data, loss caused by an independent receiver, or indirect or unforeseeable loss.

If you use a free service, it is provided without a promise that it will meet a particular operational need. Additional service levels and liability terms for professional or public-sector use must be agreed in writing.

10. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Layer400 at any time and may request account closure through the account area or privacy contact. Provisions that by their nature continue after closure—including intellectual-property, data-use, payment and liability provisions—will remain in effect.

11. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK or another country, you retain any mandatory protections and may be entitled to bring a claim in your local courts.

We will date material revisions and, where appropriate, notify account holders. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means the revised terms apply from that point; it does not remove rights already accrued.
