Layer400 connects independently operated Remote ID receivers. Each station reports what it actually hears; the network combines duplicate reports and produces a deliberately limited public view.

Every stage has a boundary.

The browser never talks directly to the ingest service or database. Public map responses contain only the fields intended for public display.

01 / RECEIVE

Signals are heard locally

A supported receiver listens passively for compatible Direct Remote ID broadcasts. It does not transmit to, command or identify the aircraft owner.

02 / AUTHENTICATE

The station signs its upload

Each receiver has its own revocable device identity. Account passwords are not stored on feeder hardware and a lost receiver can be disabled without resetting the owner's account.

03 / RECONCILE

Reports become observations

Duplicate receptions are associated with the same current track while station provenance remains available to protected systems for quality and operations.

04 / REDUCE

Public data is minimised

Exact station positions, account details and sensitive evidence stay out of the anonymous map. Public identifiers rotate and displayed serials are masked.

05 / DISPLAY

The map states what it knows

Age, method and receiver count are shown without turning them into claims of legality. Delayed or stale information is labelled rather than silently interpolated.

06 / RETAIN

Access follows purpose

The free-account roadmap includes 24-hour history. Longer history and operational workflows will be account-gated; public access will not become a bulk-download route.

EVIDENCE, NOT CERTAINTY

The map tells you where the limits are.

A credible network makes uncertainty visible. It does not fill radio gaps with invented positions or suggest that receiver count is regulatory approval.

CURRENT

Last received is explicit

Track age is measured from the most recent accepted observation. If updates stop, the interface marks the track stale and removes it from the current view.

INDEPENDENT

Receiver count is context

Multiple stations hearing a compatible broadcast can improve confidence in reception. It cannot verify the pilot, intent, authorisation or truth of every transmitted field.

INCOMPLETE

Coverage is measured

Coverage grows only where participating receivers report genuine observations. Empty areas are never painted as covered merely because a station exists nearby.
